This system is designed for fixing roofing tiles to deck beams, but can also be used to join other elements. The basic design concept is that of ‘ductility’, understood as the ability of a connection to deform plastically under load before reaching failure. The system has been designed so that plasticisation is concentrated on the curved elements, ensuring that high deformations can develop between the connected elements while limiting the forces transmitted to the structures in the event of an earthquake. In practice, the energy required to deform the curved elements is subtracted from the action of the earthquake (seismic demand).
